Retrace and depart / 2009
In this multi-layered installation several media central to Meinild’s praxis
come together constructing an exploration of different architectural and visual
framings presenting the home as a potential stage.
What at first seems to invite the beholder to an intimate glance into an inhabited
space turns into a monitored set raising questions around which subject positions
are inscribed in different architectural scripts and the possibility for an authentic
mediation of the private space as outside the social spectacle.
By defamiliarizing the familiar Meinild highlights the beholders own projections
into the images. The person we expect to enter the frame never comes."
